Chef / Fish Fryer

We are now recruiting for the upcoming 2019 summer season. We are looking for a number of Chefs / Fish fryers. Starting dates are from March onwards until the end of October 2019. Our busy takeaway serves the usual quality fish and chip shop items to a high standard. We also have a 36 seater restaurant serving a range of speciality homemade dishes for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. • Located on the water’s edge our independently owned business operates from the historical Old Lifeboat House, Coverack, on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. • Reasonably priced accommodation is available within walking distance, however due to our rural location, transport would be a bonus. • Great rates of pay dependent on experience, share of tips and full holiday pay. • Staff uniform and meals on duty. • Staff discounts at local water sport and scuba diving businesses. • This is an ideal opportunity for people travelling to Cornwall looking to work with a friendly crew and to earn great money over the summer. The purpose of the role:- • Working as part of a dynamic team in a fast paced environment. • To ensure the Restaurant and take away delivers and exceeds guest expectations, ensuring service, quality and consistency to agreed specification’s. • Preparing fresh home cooked meals to a high standard with excellent presentation skills. • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained at all times in the kitchen. • Keeping the outside dining areas clear of any rubbish and waste. • Ensure Food Safety Documentation is maintained. • Assist in the daily ordering and stock rotation. • You will need a good knowledge of maths and be confident on the till complying with in house cash handling procedures. • Recognise customer dissatisfaction and deal with complaints speedily. • Be actively involved with theme nights and daily specials. • Managing and training any team members working with you. • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margin. • Re-stocking fridges/freezers and stock areas where appropriate. • Complying with Health & Safety at all times. We are looking for candidates who:- • Have experience in a similar catering environment. • Excellent commitment to customer service. • Good oral/written communication skills. • Have a flexible, “Can do!” approach to work and be a team player. Due to the nature of the role you will be required to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays with hours increasing as the season progresses. • Ideally hold valid Level 2 Food Safety certificate and Level 2 professional cookery. • The ability to work under pressure. • Be organised and motivated in learning and using local ingredients. • Have the ability to deputise in the owner’s absence. • Have a cool head and embrace responsibility with the ability to delegate appropriately.
